<p>The SEI Research, Technology, and System Solutions (RTSS) Program conducts and applies research on the structure and behavior of systems. Working in RTSS provides staff members with the opportunity to build a strong reputation in their chosen fields, interact with world-class colleagues at Carnegie Mellon University, and have a seminal and lasting influence on an emerging body of technical research and practice.</p>
<p>The RTSS Program seeks qualified candidates for the SEI High-Confidence Cyber-Physical Systems team. This group conducts research in the design and analysis of cyber-physical systems (CPSs). The following position is open:</p>
<p><strong>Senior Researcher for High-Confidence Cyber-Physical Systems</strong></p>
<p>PhD in software engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or related discipline with a dissertation in a related topic, along with five years of experience in software and systems development or verification tool development (counting research projects). US citizenship required; successful candidate must be able to pass background investigation for a DoD security clearance.</p>
<p>The Senior Researcher will conduct research in verification techniques from model-checking and static analysis for functional verification; in real-time scheduling and resource allocation; and in robot coordination. The HCCPS project is interested not only in theoretical investigation but also in building prototypes to evaluate the practicality of results. As a result, the Senior Researcher will help to create model problems inspired by the practitioner community and develop ready-to-use materials including books, reports, courses, etc.</p>

<p>Candidates who will hold a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline are invited to apply. We are particularly seeking applications in the general area of embedded systems, embedded software, and real-time systems.  Exceptional candidates with research interests in data visualization and computational science and engineering are also invited to apply.</p>
<p>According to the recent NRC rankings, the UNL CSE Department is listed in the top one-third of ranked U.S. CS Ph.D. programs , and in the top 25 for most categories. The systems group comprises of ten tenure-track faculty, working in the areas of wireless sensor networks, cyberphysical systems, real-time systems, computer architecture, real-time systems, and VLSI.</p>

<p>MRTC is Sweden&#8217;s largest and most prominent environment for embedded and real-time systems research. Located at MÃ¤lardalen University, VÃ¤sterÃ¥s, from its inception in 1999, MRTC has grown from one professor, seven senior researchers, and some 15 PhD students to its current size with 10 research groups, including 10 full professors, 3 adjoint professors, 20 additional senior researchers, and some 50 PhD students. Despite its size, MRTC has a focused research agenda targeting various aspects of real-time systems and embedded software development. MRTC is a nontraditional academic research unit with a unique fusion of industrial relevance and academic excellence.</p>
<p>A Swedish PhD position is 4 years full time (often arranged 5 years at 80% of research and 20% of department duties), with good salary and excellent conditions to conduct research. <p>The professor position opened is intended to complement and strengthen the existing research expertise in the Computer Science and Communication Research Unit (CSC) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication at the University of Luxembourg.</p>
<p>We welcome candidates with an excellent research record in Software and Systems, focusing on real-time &amp; embedded systems engineering. The research encompasses the software dimension while being aware of the hardware layer (or the other way round). Furthermore the candidate should be knowledgeable in the following research areas currently covered by the research unit: fault tolerance, distributed frameworks and infrastructures, automated testing, formal verification, model driven engineering and development methodologies.</p>
<p><span id="more-233"></span>The University of Luxembourg will provide means to the new professor to build a research team and a project portfolio. The new professor will be offered a highly competitive salary and will be able to benefit from a very dynamic environment of a young and growing university. The University of Luxembourg, created in 2003, aims to build a strong and excellent academic staff and for this provides excellent opportunities for newly recruited academic staff for developing their own research and academic career.</p>
<p>The Computer Science and Communication Research Unit (CSC) has succeeded in attracting many excellent researchers. The full CSC staff, made of 150 members, provides a rich and dynamic environment for the new professor to develop a research group.</p>
<p>Teaching will be done in the existing and future curricula at bachelor, master and PhD levels.</p>
<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>
<p>Candidates should have a PhD and at least five years of relevant work experience after their PhD. They must have a strong affinity with the indicated research areas, an excellent international scientific standing, adequate experience in teaching and in managing research activities, and a past performance in obtaining externally funded research projects. We welcome industrial experience. Excellent junior researchers are also encouraged to apply; they may be offered an associate professor position.</p>
